Data Architecture for Submarine Maintenance and Modernization is Developing
•Key decision makers at SUBFOR, NAVSEA, and OPNAV are beginning to leverage the value of integrated data. KTG is actively supporting the development of a submarine data architecture in the COMSUBFOR’s Undersea Enterprise Performance to Plan, NAVSEA 07L’s Reliability Control Board and Sub Team ONE's Top Management Attention/Top Management Interest.
New Data Driven Projects are Emerging
The Department of the Navy has created a Data Governance Board and a supporting working group to help guide the Navy governance of data. KTG is supporting COMSUBFOR as a member of the working group helping to shape of future Naval data structures.
Deck plate initiatives are emerging as well. Data is not new to the submarine force, but much of the data that is handled today is captured in PowerPoint slides and Adobe Acrobat formatted documents. If data in is aggregated, it likely exists on an Excel flat file on an individuals hard drive. The challenge in data analysis today is finding and validating data sources, moving or converting the data into a workable domain, and publishing the results. KTG is actively involved in this building of the submarine force data structure and with the goal of Tableau dashboards that reside on decision maker desks fed by live data.
