Material and Modernization
Submarines execute a continuous maintenance cycle to maintain their warfighting readiness. Problems that exceed the capability of the crew are screened for performance by an Intermediate Maintenance Activity. Members of the KTG team man the desks in Kings Bay, GA; Norfolk, VA and Groton, CT screening each job and helping to assign when it will be accomplished and monitoring the repair until it is complete. KTG team members also monitor the status of calibration gear and the installation of ship modernization and alterations. We are proud to be an important contributing member to the submarine repair team.
When waterfront organizations need help expediting the parts, paperwork, or people to keep repairs on track, there are KTG members stationed at the Submarine Force, Atlantic headquarters in Norfolk, VA as part of the larger TYCOM staff standing by to help.
A KTG data analytics team is stationed with the TYCOM staff monitoring the condition of all U.S. submarines, regardless of where they are stationed. This data is used to monitored trends in submarine material readiness and inform TYCOM and NAVSEA decision makers of ships and systems that deserve additional attention.
